Hello from DwD Labs

My name is Pedram Ataee. I am an AI Architect based in Vancouver, Canada.

In 2013, I received my Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia.

I invented a breakthrough AI algorithm with 5 US patents. The algorithm was shipped on a wearable device to more than 100K users worldwide. The patents were acquired by Facebook.

I also authored my experiences in the AI world in a book titled: "Artificial Intelligence: Unorthodox Lessons".

How To Start A Business

From An Idea

How to Start a Business from an Idea is your essential resource and a comprehensive guide to enhancing your chance of success in running a startup. This is a must-read book for anyone pursuing entrepreneurship.

My Story

My journey into artificial intelligence began in 2005 when I became familiar with the beautiful concept of manifold learning. My attraction to this subject went hand-in-hand with my love of mathematics.

Manifold learning techniques enabled me to interpret high-dimensional data. The skills inherent in those techniques allowed me to understand the fundamentals better. I felt empowered.

In 2013, I had the opportunity to be part of an innovative company working on a gesture control armband. We aimed to build an armband that could fit the forearm and recognize hand gestures based on muscle signals.

At the time, I was in charge of developing an AI-based gesture recognition engine; the heart of the wearable device. I invented a cool algorithm based on what we termed a muscle language and an ensemble classifier. The algorithm was shipped on a wearable gadget to more than 100K users worldwide. The patents were acquired by Facebook.

In 2018, I work toward building an NLP-based solution to interpret regulatory documents. In order to accomplish this interpretation, we developed parsing engines that could read the documents and then structure the subsequent data to be used in NLP models for further interpretation.

In the past 10+ years, I have held various responsibilities with several AI startups including serving as an engineer, team lead, consultant, and advisor. I am on a mission to share the foremost lessons I have acquired over the years with you.

Although these experiences may not be taught in classrooms or found in classic textbooks, I am delighted to share them with you.

I'm always looking for new and exciting opportunities. Let's connect.
